What to expect at your first visit

  • The initial consultation takes an hour and a half to two hours (children may take less time).
Why? Because a homeopath must consider the whole person and look at patterns and connections that reveal the appropriate remedy.

  • The interview will cover health and family history, current challenges, and a discussion of the individual’s habits and stresses. Prescribing the right homeopathic remedy takes a little more time and patience than conventional medicine. The most well matched remedy needs to be taken for your symptoms. There is no such thing as a standard homeopathic headache remedy (although you may find products that appear to be). The remedy you take has to be matched to your particular headache - where it occurs, what brings it on, what type of pain it is, what makes it feel worse, your state of mind and what other symptoms you experience.

  • A remedy may be given during the consultation for an acute issue; and in some chronic cases for which a remedy selection is clear.

  • The homeopath may make suggestions for changes in the patient’s life that may ease the path of healing.

  • After the initial interview a thorough study of your case will be conducted in order to determine the remedy. It may take some time to find the closest match for a chronic problem. Answers to additional questions may be needed to help clarify points as the research progresses. A brief phone consultation is usually helpful in this situation.

  • When is the next appointment? A follow-up appointment will be scheduled, typically three to five weeks after a remedy is given.

  • Payment? Cash, credit cards, and personal checks are accepted and visits are not covered by most insurance plans. Homeopathic care can be very affordable; and a flexible and mutually agreeable payment plan can be arranged on an individual basis prior to your appointment.
